The Center for Security Policy<\/a> is reporting today that the voters of Venezuela allocated 99 out of 167 seats to the Democratic Unity Roundtable<\/a> (MUD<\/a>) and the governing United Socialist Party of Venezuela<\/a> (PSUV<\/a>) garnered 46 seats, with the remaining<\/a> 22 seats still to be adjudicated. This vote represents the end of the socialist regime in Venezuela.<\/p>\n

Founding organizations such as the Bolivarian Alliance of the Americas<\/a> (ALBA<\/a>), the Union of South American Nations<\/a> (UNASUR<\/a>), the government propaganda satellite channel Telesur<\/a>, as well as sponsoring economic partnerships like the Caribbean Petroleum consortium (PETROCARIBE<\/a>), the Chavez administration curried favor and goodwill<\/a> throughout Latin America, as other left-leaning governments were elected in Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, and Bolivia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These institutions were meant to supplant the International Government Organizations regime which has been in place since the end of WWII and led by the United Nations<\/a> and the Organization of American States<\/a>. \u00a0In fact, Chavez had a very contentious relationship with both bodies, routinely denouncing the UN as a \u201cstooge of imperialism<\/a>\u201d and the OAS as a \u201cshameful<\/a>\u201d organization every time his authoritarian and undemocratic actions were criticized.<\/strong><\/p>\n
