{"id":26117,"date":"2015-07-24T12:17:46","date_gmt":"2015-07-24T16:17:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=26117"},"modified":"2015-07-24T12:17:46","modified_gmt":"2015-07-24T16:17:46","slug":"defenseless-in-the-theatre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=26117","title":{"rendered":"Defenseless In The Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2015\/07\/23\/lafayette-theater-is-a-gun-free-zone-bans-firearms-for-customers-with-permits\/\" target=\"_blank\">Breitbart.com<\/a> posted an article about the shooting in the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Movie theater\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Movie_theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">movie theater<\/a> in <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Louisiana\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=31.0,-92.0&amp;spn=3.0,3.0&amp;q=31.0,-92.0 (Louisiana)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Louisiana<\/a>. Unfortunately, even though it is well-intentioned, declaring a place a <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Gun politics in the United States\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gun_politics_in_the_United_States\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">gun-free zone<\/a> does not protect people, it simply means that potential victims of an attack will be unable to defend themselves.<\/p>\n<p>The article states:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>One thing we know even now, just hours after the tragic shooting took place, is that the gunman did not adhere to the Conduct Policy. He ignored the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Gun control\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gun_control\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">gun ban<\/a>, he ignored the bans on violence, intimidation, and physically threatening behavior, and he ignored the rules against \u201cunlawful conduct.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Just like so many attacks before\u2013from Nidal Hasan\u2019s 2009 <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Fort Hood shooting\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=31.1425,-97.7963888889&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=31.1425,-97.7963888889 (Fort%20Hood%20shooting)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Fort Hood attack<\/a> to James Holmes\u2019 2012 Aurora theater to the 2013 attack on the DC Navy Yard\u2013gun free zones put <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Law\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">law-abiding<\/a> <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Citizenship\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Citizenship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">citizens<\/a> at a disadvantage because law-abiding citizens are the only ones who obey them. People with criminal intent are not phased by \u201cNo <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Gun\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gun\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Guns Allowed<\/a>\u201d signs or a Conduct Policy that says no firearms can be brought into the theater.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even if you are someone who chooses not to own a gun (which I am), at some point you have to realize that until you can find a way to take guns from criminals and people who do not respect life and leave guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens, gun control is a really bad idea. One person who was practicing his right to concealed carry could have ended this tragedy almost as quickly as it began.
