President Obama stated many times that he did not have the power to grant amnesty to illegal aliens–then he did it. A number of states sued<\/a> the government to stop the move, stating that it would be damaging to their states. A judge in Texas blocked President Obama’s amnesty program from being implemented.<\/p>\n

The Hill<\/a> posted an article yesterday updating the situation:<\/p>\n

The Department of Justice<\/a> on Wednesday said it will not make an emergency request to the Supreme Court<\/a> to lift an order blocking President Obama’s<\/a> executive action on immigration.<\/strong><\/p>\n

…The decision by DOJ means that a Texas<\/a> federal judge\u2019s order to temporarily block Obama\u2019s controversial immigration executive orders will remain in place, at least for now.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Tuesday, a panel on the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals<\/a> ruled 2-1<\/a> against lifting that hold, with the majority opinion<\/a> written by two Republican-appointed judges arguing that the “public interest favors maintenance of the injunction<\/a>.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

In July, the 5th Circuit will hear the appeal of the Obama Administration<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The same 5th Circuit is also reviewing a separate challenge on the injunction and will hear oral arguments in that case during the first full week of July. The administration will try to persuade the judges to lift the injunction during that argument.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The injunction stems from a larger suit filed by 26 states on whether Obama\u2019s executive actions are constitutional.<\/strong><\/p>\n

President Obama has brought executive orders to a whole new level. Hopefully the courts will stop this, as Congress has not exercised its proper role.<\/p>\n
