Last Monday, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2015\/05\/11\/catholic-university-investigated-for-offending-muslims-by-having-too-many-crosses\/\" target=\"_blank\">Breitbart.com<\/a> reported that <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"George Washington University Law School\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8988,-77.045&amp;spn=1.0,1.0&amp;q=38.8988,-77.045 (George%20Washington%20University%20Law%20School)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">George Washington University Law School<\/a> Professor <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"John F. Banzhaf III\" href=\"http:\/\/banzhaf.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">John Banzhaf<\/a> has filed a complaint\u00a0with the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Washington, D.C.\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8951111111,-77.0366666667&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=38.8951111111,-77.0366666667 (Washington%2C%20D.C.)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Washington, D.C.<\/a> Office of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Human rights\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Human_rights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Human Rights<\/a> against <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"The Catholic University of America\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.9329387,-76.9977828&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.9329387,-76.9977828 (The%20Catholic%20University%20of%20America)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Catholic University<\/a>. The Professor is charging the University with\u00a0 creating an \u201coffensive\u201d environment in which Muslims are intimidated out of proper reverence for their own religion because of the large amount of Catholic imagery draping the halls. Dude, it&#8217;s Catholic University. What did you expect&#8211;statues of Buddha?<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>It\u2019s hard to keep a straight face while reading all that, but rest assured the rusty gears and chains of the bureaucracy began clanking as soon as Banzhaf\u2019s thick complaint was dumped into the hopper of the anti-discrimination machine. \u201cA spokesperson for the human rights office said they are investigating Banzhaf\u2019s complaint \u2014 and the inquiry could take as long as six months,\u201d writes <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Beliefnet\" href=\"http:\/\/www.beliefnet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">BeliefNet<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cI don\u2019t know what the attorney wants them to do \u2013 if he wants them to actually move the Basilica or if the Muslim students can find someplace where they don\u2019t have to look at it,\u201d an incredulous Patrick Reilly of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Cardinal Newman Society\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cardinal_Newman_Society\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Cardinal Newman Society<\/a> told Fox News. \u201cOne wouldn\u2019t expect a Jewish institution to be responsible for providing liturgical opportunities for other faiths and I wouldn\u2019t expect a Catholic institution to do that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cThis attorney is really turning civil rights on its head,\u201d Reilly continued. \u201cHe\u2019s using the law for his own discrimination against the Catholic institution and essentially saying Catholic University cannot operate according to Catholic principles.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;This is all part of the effort to create a legal and super-legal\u00a0regulatory environment in which maintaining faith-based institutions is nearly impossible\u2026 or, at least, so difficult that these institutions will be forever subdued beneath the heel of the almighty State. Just wait until churches <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/big-government\/2013\/06\/26\/irs-could-revoke-non-profit-for-religious-institutions\/\">lose their tax-exempt status<\/a> for refusing to comply with Big Government\u00a0decrees about same-sex marriage, and you\u2019ll see how that works.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Religious freedom is under attack in America. It won&#8217;t be long before the tax-exempt status of churches will be under fire. If Americans value the right to freedom of religion, they need to begin to stand up now. One of the things to note is a subtle changing of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"First Amendment to the United States Constitution\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">First Amendment<\/a>. We are hearing people speak about &#8216;<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Freedom of religion\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Freedom_of_religion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">freedom of worship<\/a>&#8216; rather than &#8216;freedom of religion.&#8217; It&#8217;s a subtle difference, but the word change is an effort to keep religious people out of the public forum. Freedom of worship keeps God in the church.
