{"id":25545,"date":"2015-05-08T11:53:27","date_gmt":"2015-05-08T15:53:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=25545"},"modified":"2015-05-08T11:53:27","modified_gmt":"2015-05-08T15:53:27","slug":"the-rules-should-apply-equally-to-everyone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=25545","title":{"rendered":"The Rules Should Apply Equally To Everyone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/irs-employees-promoted-awarded-after-cheating-on-taxes\/article\/2564102\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Examiner<\/a> reported that <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Internal Revenue Service\" href=\"http:\/\/www.irs.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Internal Revenue Service (IRS)<\/a> employees who cheated on their taxes were promoted&#8211;not punished.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports on the finding of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Treasury_Inspector_General_for_Tax_Administration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Nearly one-third of the employees from 2008 to 2013 caught cheating on their taxes received at least one bonus or raise within a year of being disciplined, investigators reported. These rewards include nearly $145,000 in bonuses, almost 900 hours of time-off awards and 30 temporary and permanent promotions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;&#8221;Some employees had significant and sometimes repeated <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Tax noncompliance\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tax_noncompliance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">tax noncompliance<\/a> issues, and a history of other conduct issues,&#8221; the report said. &#8220;Moreover, management had concluded that the employees were not credible. Nonetheless, the proposed terminations were mitigated by the IRS Commissioner.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Federal law requires that IRS employees guilty of intentional <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Tax law\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tax_law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">tax law<\/a> violations must be terminated, unless mitigated by the IRS commissioner. Since the IRS doesn&#8217;t have a policy to document the reason why intentional tax violators aren&#8217;t fired, it was unclear why the employees received lesser discipline.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is time for <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Congress\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8897222222,-77.0088888889&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.8897222222,-77.0088888889 (United%20States%20Congress)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Congress<\/a> to come up with a tax code that abolishes the IRS.
