The Obama Administration and many political leaders seemed to overlook the fact that we currently have forces in <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Germany\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=52.5166666667,13.3833333333&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=52.5166666667,13.3833333333 (Germany)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Germany<\/a>, Japan, and South Korea, despite that fact that those wars have been over for a long time. Despite the warnings from military leaders, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Barack Obama\" href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">President Obama<\/a> celebrated the fact that our troops were coming home from Iraq, and many Democrats celebrated with him. So what are these people saying now?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2014\/09\/2014-elections-senate-democrats-iraq-syria-111445.html?hp=l2\" target=\"_blank\">Politico<\/a> posted an article today with the headline, &#8220;Liberal doves run as war hawks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The article cites a few examples:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Democrat <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Kay Hagan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hagan.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Kay Hagan<\/a> didn\u2019t mince words about the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Iraq War\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikinvest.com\/concept\/Iraq_War\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikinvest\">Iraq War<\/a> during her 2008 Senate campaign against Republican <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Elizabeth Dole\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Elizabeth_Dole\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Elizabeth Dole<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cWe need to get out of Iraq in a responsible way,\u201d Hagan declared in May of that year. \u201cWe need to elect leaders who don\u2019t invade countries without planning and stay there without an end.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"continue\" style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Hagan is striking a different chord these days. Locked in a tough reelection battle, the first-term senator boasts that she\u2019s more strongly supportive of airstrikes against <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Islamic State of Iraq\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Islamic_State_of_Iraq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Islamic State of Iraq<\/a> and the Levant militants than her Republican challenger, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Thom Tillis\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Thom_Tillis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Thom Tillis<\/a>, and says she\u2019s been pressing the Obama administration to arm Syrian rebels since early last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;Take <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Bruce Braley\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bruce_Braley\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Bruce Braley<\/a>, the Democratic Senate candidate in Iowa. He picked up a Republican-held House seat largely on the strength of his opposition to the war in Iraq. He backed cutting off funding for military operations and spoke out against the surge.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>When his opponent warned at a 2006 debate of chaos if the U.S. cut and ran, Braley responded: \u201cChaos already is ensuing in Iraq.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Just last August, Braley demanded Obama get congressional authorization before taking any military action in Syria.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Now Braley is running against military veteran <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Joni Ernst\" href=\"http:\/\/www.legis.iowa.gov\/Legislators\/legislator.aspx?GA=84&amp;PID=11232\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Joni Ernst<\/a> in one of the most contested Senate races in the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cISIS is a threat that must be stopped,\u201d Braley said during a debate Sunday. \u201cAnytime American citizens are attacked by a terrorist group, they need to be brought to justice or to the grave.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Follow the link to the article to read more wiggly-worm statements.<\/p>\n<p>Admittedly, the situation in Iraq and the Middle East is fluid, but it is very obvious that many of the positions taken regarding the war in Iraq and the withdrawal of troops have been purely political. In this country there are men and women who love America more than they love political power.
