That is a serious breach of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Military courtesy\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Military_courtesy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">military etiquette<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports on the picture shown:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cPresident Obama just landed in New York for #UNGA2014,\u201d says the caption.\u00a0The salute is \u201cthe most important of all military courtesies,\u201d says <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usnavy.vt.edu\/Marines\/PLC_Junior\/Fall_Semester\/GMK1010_Customs&amp;Courtesies%20SO.pdf\">a manual<\/a> for Marine Corps <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Officer candidate\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Officer_candidate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">officer candidates<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cIn some situations, the salute is not appropriate,\u201d says the manual. \u201cIn general, do not salute when\u2026 carrying articles with both hands or being otherwise so occupied as to make saluting impractical,\u201d says the manual, titled \u201cCustoms and Courtesies.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the President had a better understanding of what it takes to become a Marine, maybe he would show them a little more respect. The picture in the article makes me want to send President Obama to Marine boot camp on Parris Island so that he would understand the character and quality of the men saluting him.
