Today’s New York Times<\/a> is reporting that the Census Bureau<\/a>, an agency which President Obama<\/a> brought into the sphere of the White House<\/a>, is changing the way it reports health insurance<\/a> date. The change will make it more difficult to measure the impact of ObamaCare<\/a> in the report due out this fall.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

The changes are intended to improve the accuracy of the survey, being conducted this month in interviews with tens of thousands of households around the country. But the new questions are so different that the findings will not be comparable, the officials said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

An internal Census Bureau document said that the new questionnaire included a \u201ctotal revision to health insurance questions\u201d and, in a test last year, produced lower estimates of the uninsured. Thus, officials said, it will be difficult to say how much of any change is attributable to the Affordable Care Act and how much to the use of a new survey instrument.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are expecting much lower numbers just because of the questions and how they are asked,\u201d said Brett J. O\u2019Hara, chief of the health statistics branch at the Census Bureau.<\/strong><\/p>\n
