In more than one instance, conservative speakers have been banned from <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Campus\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">college campuses<\/a> or shouted down. Conservative <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Professor\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Professor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">professors<\/a> have also been known to have a hard time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/americanthinker.com\/blog\/2014\/04\/conservative_professor_wins_promotion_and_50k_in_discrimination_case.html\" target=\"_blank\">The American Thinker<\/a> posted an article today about <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"University of North Carolina Wilmington\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=34.2266,-77.8780472222&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=34.2266,-77.8780472222 (University%20of%20North%20Carolina%20Wilmington)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">University of North Carolina Wilmington<\/a> professor Mike Adams, who sued the school for discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>A federal court Wednesday ordered the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/university-of-north-carolina\/\">University of North Carolina<\/a>-Wilmington to promote and give $50,000 in back pay to a conservative professor in what is described as a landmark <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Discrimination\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Discrimination\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">anti-discrimination<\/a> case.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\" data-iceapc=\"2\" data-iceapw=\"34\"><strong>The restitution was ordered three weeks after a jury found the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/university-of-north-carolina\/\">university<\/a>\u00a0guilty of retaliating against criminology professor\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/mike-adams\/\">Mike Adams<\/a>, a popular conservative columnist on Townhall.com, after denying him a promotion to full professor in 2006.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\" data-iceapc=\"2\" data-iceapw=\"43\"><strong>\u201cThis ruling sends a message to public universities: <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Academic freedom\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Academic_freedom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Academic freedom<\/a> isn\u2019t just for the Left, it\u2019s a constitutional right for all professors \u2014 even <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Christian right\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christian_right\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Christian conservatives<\/a>,\u201d said <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"David French (playwright)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/David_French_%28playwright%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">David French<\/a>, senior counsel at the conservative <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"American Center for Law &amp; Justice\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aclj.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">American Center for Law and Justice<\/a>, which represented\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/mike-adams\/\">Mr. Adams<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-iceapc=\"2\" data-iceapw=\"43\">College campuses used to be known as places where different ideas were debated. In recent years, they have become more interested in promoting a single point of view.
