It wasn&#8217;t the usual article blaming Congress for the various ills of the country&#8211;it was an article noting the declining power of Congress&#8211;they&#8217;re giving their power away!<\/p>\n<p>The article cites a number of examples:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Consider several of the items <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"The Washington Post\" href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Washington Post<\/a> columnist <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Ruth Marcus (journalist)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ruth_Marcus_%28journalist%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Ruth Marcus<\/a> listed in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/opinions\/ruth-marcus-losing-the-art-of-legislating-as-john-dingell-retires\/2014\/02\/25\/8b1f7296-9e5f-11e3-a050-dc3322a94fa7_story.html\">recent column<\/a> headlined, \u201cLosing the art of legislating as <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"John Dingell\" href=\"http:\/\/www.house.gov\/dingell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">John Dingell<\/a> retires\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Clean Air: Lawmakers are happy to pass policymaking about carbon dioxide <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.heritage.org\/2013\/09\/20\/epas-new-co2-regulations-time-for-congress-to-step-up\/\">to the EPA<\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Education reform\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Education_reform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Education Reform<\/a>: Lawmakers allow the Obama Administration <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.heritage.org\/2013\/10\/16\/no-child-left-behind-waivers-tethers-to-the-feds\/\">to offer waivers<\/a> to replace the\u00a0 <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Congress\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8897222222,-77.0088888889&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.8897222222,-77.0088888889 (United%20States%20Congress)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Congressionally<\/a>-passed <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"No Child Left Behind Act\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/No_Child_Left_Behind_Act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">No Child Left Behind<\/a> with Common Core.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Health Care: Lawmakers enacted <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patient_Protection_and_Affordable_Care_Act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Obamacare<\/a>, but the bill was more aspiration than law. For his part, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Barack Obama\" href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">President Obama<\/a> has felt free <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.heritage.org\/2013\/09\/09\/morning-bell-10-ways-obamacare-isnt-working\/\">to issue waivers<\/a> at will.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Telecommunications: The <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Federal Communications Commission\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8834,-77.0288&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.8834,-77.0288 (Federal%20Communications%20Commission)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">FCC<\/a> is aggressively trying to expand its domain. It recently floated a plan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/articles\/2014\/02\/23\/the_fcc_tries_to_stick_its_big_nose_into_the_newsroom.html\">to put observers in newsrooms<\/a>, even those of newspapers and Web sites (which the agency doesn\u2019t even regulate).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This is not how our government is supposed to work&#8211;it is rule by agencies in the executive branch&#8211;not three branches of government balancing each other.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"zemanta-pixie\" style=\"margin-top: 10px; height: 15px;\"><a class=\"zemanta-pixie-a\" title=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zemanta.com\/?px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-pixie-img\" style=\"border: none; float: right;\" alt=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" src=\"http:\/\/img.zemanta.com\/zemified_h.png?x-id=6a1ed0fe-3150-4f30-82de-8794f6aff9a5\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Monday, Heritage.org posted an article about Congress.
