The <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Presidency of Barack Obama\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Obama Administration<\/a> has made it easy for children who were brought here to get tuition breaks, temporary visas, and many things to allow them to remain in America. However, one family <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Refugee\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Refugee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">seeking asylum<\/a> because they fear having their children taken away from them has been denied asylum by the Obama Administration. The family was originally granted asylum, but the Obama Administration then denied that asylum, and the family began a court battle to remain in America. The odd thing here is that the Obama Administration has spent a lot of resources fighting the original asylum decision, while at the same time loosening immigration laws for thousands of other people. It makes no sense. However, here is the story.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/religion\/supreme-court-rejects-asylum-bid-for-german-home-schooling-family\/2014\/03\/03\/06a987e8-a31b-11e3-b865-38b254d92063_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post <\/a>reported the story yesterday:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Supreme Court of the United States\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8907083333,-77.0043444444&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.8907083333,-77.0043444444 (Supreme%20Court%20of%20the%20United%20States)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Supreme Court<\/a> on Monday (March 3) declined to hear an appeal from a family seeking asylum in the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667 (United%20States)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">United States<\/a> because home schooling is not allowed in their native <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Germany\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=52.5166666667,13.3833333333&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=52.5166666667,13.3833333333 (Germany)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Germany<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Home School Legal Defense Association\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Home_School_Legal_Defense_Association\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">HSLDA<\/a> helped the Romeikes leave Germany in 2008 after they were threatened with jail time and losing custody of their children. The Romeikes are <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Evangelicalism\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Evangelicalism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">evangelical Christians<\/a>, and say they should be allowed to keep their children home to teach them <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Christian values\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Christian_values\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Christian values<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>An immigration judge in Tennessee granted the Romeikes\u2019 bid in 2010, but the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Board of Immigration Appeals\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Board_of_Immigration_Appeals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Board of Immigration Appeals<\/a> overturned the ruling in 2012, arguing that religious <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Homeschooling\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Homeschooling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">home-schoolers<\/a> don\u2019t face any special threats.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The family lost their appeal in federal court in May 2013. The U.S. grants safe haven to people who have a well-founded fear of persecution, but not necessarily to those under governments with laws that differ from those in the U.S., Judge <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Jeffrey Sutton\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jeffrey_Sutton\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Jeffrey Sutton<\/a> wrote in the court\u2019s decision.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cThe German authorities have not singled out the Romeikes in particular or homeschoolers in general for persecution,\u201d Sutton wrote.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We need to remember that parents should have the last word in the education of their children.<\/p>\n<p>From the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/hslda\" target=\"_blank\">Home School Legal Defense Association Facebook (HSLDA)\u00a0<\/a> page:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Today, a Supervisor with the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Department of Homeland Security\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=38.9380555556,-77.0822222222&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=38.9380555556,-77.0822222222 (United%20States%20Department%20of%20Homeland%20Security)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Department of Homeland Security<\/a> called a member of our legal team to inform us that the Romeike family has been granted &#8220;indefinite deferred status&#8221;. This means that the Romeikes can stay in the United States permanently (unless they are convicted of a crime, etc.) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong> This is an incredible victory that can only be credited to our Almighty God.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong> We also want to thank those of who spoke up on this issue&#8211;including that long ago White House petition. We believe that the public outcry made this possible while God delivered the victory.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong> This is an amazing turnaround in 24 hours.
