Michael Ledeen<\/a> posted an article at PJ Media<\/a> yesterday about the current war in the Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mr. Ledeen states:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not as if we\u2019re at war, after all.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And we\u2019re not.\u00a0 Only our enemies are.\u00a0 It\u2019s like target practice for them.\u00a0 Fortunately, they\u2019re not very good at it, and so they miss a lot. When they win, they find ways to screw it up.\u00a0 They took over Egypt, remember?\u00a0 Then lost it in the \u201cbiggest demonstration in human history\u201d (thus sayeth the BBC<\/a>).\u00a0 They were on the verge of taking over Tunisia, but no more.\u00a0 They made a hash out of Ukraine and Venezuela<\/a>, then lost the first and are facing the people\u2019s wrath in the second.\u00a0 They keep trying to organize lethal rocket and missile attacks on Israel, only to get destroyed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But we choose not to be at war.<\/p>\n

For those who actually want to see the world plain, the global network is luminously clear, from North Korea and China to Russia, Iran<\/a> and Syria, to Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador and Nicaragua.\u00a0 Those are the nations aligned against us.\u00a0 They support a variety of terror groups, from al-Qaeda<\/a> to Islamic Jihad to the various Latin American<\/a> guerrillas, and they work in cahoots with the narcotics mafiosi.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

There are two keystones in this global network:\u00a0 Iran and Venezuela, with Russia manipulating them both as best Putin can.\u00a0 If we see the world plain, the current revolutionary turmoil in Venezuela is enormously important, arguably the most important hot spot on earth today.\u00a0 For if the Castroite<\/a> tyranny in Caracas<\/a> were to fall, it would be a devastating blow to the Axis of Evil<\/a>.\u00a0 The bad guys know it;\u00a0 that\u2019s why, in addition to Cuban intel officers and special forces, Hezbollahis are moving from Damascus to Caracas<\/a>.\u00a0 Khamenei knows there\u2019s an intimate connection between what happens in Venezuela and what happens in Syria.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But America has chosen to cut its defenses and remain at peace (until we are attacked by the part of the world who chooses to wage war). We need a President, a Congress, or a State Department<\/a> smart enough to play chess. Evidently we don’t have one.<\/p>\n
