{"id":2176,"date":"2010-08-26T16:02:53","date_gmt":"2010-08-26T16:02:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=2176"},"modified":"2010-08-26T16:02:53","modified_gmt":"2010-08-26T16:02:53","slug":"five_years_after_hurricane_kat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=2176","title":{"rendered":"Five Years After Hurricane Katrina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are approaching the five-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.&nbsp; There is a video posted on the website of the New Orleans <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nola.com\/\">Times Picayune<\/a>&nbsp;of two of the newspaper&#8217;s reporters remembering a bicycle ride on the Monday after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.&nbsp; It is a moving video that reminds us how dangerous a hurricane can be.<\/p>\n<p>There is also an article in yesterday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nola.com\/katrina\/index.ssf\/2010\/08\/hurricane_katrina_altered_demo.html\">Times Picayune<\/a>&nbsp;which details how Hurricane Katrina changed the demographics of the city of New Orleans.&nbsp;&nbsp; The city is now about twenty-two percent smaller and not quite as poor as it was before the hurricane.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>The article points out how the population has shifted:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><em>&#8220;The suburbs are different.
