In 2009 President Obama<\/a> said, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” Well, there are some problems with that statement. Kaiser Health News <\/a>reported on Monday that thousands of consumers have had their health insurance plans cancelled due to ObamaCare<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

Florida Blue, for example, is terminating about 300,000 policies, about 80 percent of its individual policies in the state. Kaiser Permanente<\/a> in California<\/a> has sent notices to 160,000 people \u2013 about half of its individual business in the state.\u00a0 Insurer Highmark<\/a> in Pittsburgh is dropping about 20 percent of its individual market customers, while Independence Blue Cross<\/a>, the major insurer<\/a> in Philadelphia<\/a>, is dropping about 45 percent.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some Policies Targeted<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both Independence and Highmark are cancelling so-called \u201cguaranteed issue\u201d policies, which had been sold to customers who had pre-existing medical conditions when they signed up. Policyholders with regular policies because they did not have health problems will be given an option to extend their coverage through next year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It doesn’t sound like those of us who were happy with our health insurance will be allowed to keep it.<\/p>\n

The article further reports:<\/p>\n

Blue Shield of California<\/a> sent roughly 119,000 cancellation notices out in mid-September, about 60 percent of its individual business.\u00a0 About two-thirds of those policyholders will see rate increases in their new policies, said spokesman Steve Shivinsky.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Like other insurers, the Blue Shield letters let customers know they have to make a decision by Dec. 31 or they will automatically be enrolled in a recommended plan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Between the website problems and the cancellations, this is not going well for the Obama Administration.<\/p>\n
