Hold on to your hat–the government is attempting to shut down God. The Daily Caller<\/a> reported yesterday that the Priests who are in government service<\/a> or are under contract to the military have been threatened with arrest if they celebrate Mass<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the government shutdown<\/a>, many [government service] and contract priests who minister to Catholics on military bases<\/a> worldwide are not permitted to work \u2013 not even to volunteer,\u201d wrote John Schlageter, the general counsel<\/a> for the Archdiocese for the Military Services<\/a> USA<\/a>, in an op-ed<\/a> this week. \u201cDuring the shutdown, it is illegal for them to minister on base and they risk being arrested if they attempt to do so.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to its website<\/a>, the Archdiocese for the Military Services \u201cprovides the Catholic Church<\/a>\u2019s full range of pastoral ministries and spiritual services to those in the United States Armed Forces<\/a>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The article points out that this ruling on the part of the Obama Administration is not in accordance with the First Amendment rights of the American military. This is not something the government of a free country should do.<\/p>\n
