{"id":19815,"date":"2013-07-23T20:40:12","date_gmt":"2013-07-24T00:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=19815"},"modified":"2013-07-24T08:22:49","modified_gmt":"2013-07-24T12:22:49","slug":"why-i-dont-believe-everything-i-read","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=19815","title":{"rendered":"Why I Don&#8217;t Believe Everything I Read"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In his book <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Barack Obama\" href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Barack Obama&#8217;s<\/a> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rules for Revolution, The Alinsky Model<\/span>, <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"David Horowitz\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/David_Horowitz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">David Horowitz<\/a> relates an incident that tells us all we need to know about how underhanded the game of politics can be.<\/p>\n<p>The book states:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>College student activists in the 1960&#8217;s and 1970&#8217;s sought out Alinksy for advice about tactics and strategy. On one such occasion in the spring of 1972 at <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Tulane University\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=29.935344,-90.122687&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=29.935344,-90.122687 (Tulane%20University)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Tulane University&#8217;s<\/a> annual week-long series of events featuring leading public figures, students asked Alinsky to help plan a protest of a scheduled speech by George <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"George W. Bush\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/george_w_bush\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"rottentomatoes\">Bush<\/a>, then U.S. representative to the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United Nations\" href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">United Nations<\/a>, a speech likely to be a defense of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Richard Nixon\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Nixon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Nixon Administration<\/a>&#8216;s <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Vietnam War\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vietnam_War\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Vietnam War<\/a> policies [Note: the Nixon Administration was then negotiating with the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"North Vietnam\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=21.0333333333,105.85&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=21.0333333333,105.85 (North%20Vietnam)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">North Vietnamese<\/a> Communists to arrive at a peace agreement- DH] The students told Alinsky that they were thinking about picketing or disrupting Bush&#8217;s address. That&#8217;s the wrong approach, he rejoined &#8211; not very creative and besides, causing a disruption might get them thrown out of school. [Not very likely-DH] He told them, instead, to go hear the speech dressed up as members of the Ku Klux Klan, and whenever Bush said something in defense of the Vietnam War, they should cheer and wave placards, reading, &#8216;The K.K.K. supports Bush.&#8217; And that is what the students did with very successful, attention-getting results. The tactics really have not changed. A website called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redflagnews.com\/headlines\/confirmed-woman-holding-racist-sign-at-trayvon-rally-outed-as-far-left-activist\">redflagnews<\/a> is reporting that Renee Vaughan, who was holding a sign at a <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Shooting of Trayvon Martin\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=28.79295,-81.32965&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=28.79295,-81.32965 (Shooting%20of%20Trayvon%20Martin)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Trayvon Martin<\/a> rally, was not who she appeared to be. Ms. Vaughan held a sign that stated, &#8220;We&#8217;re racist &amp; proud,&#8221; and stood with the group supporting George Zimmerman.<\/p>\n<p>The article at Red Flag News reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Austin resident Renee Vaughan echoed the sign\u2019s ugly sentiments by yelling, \u201cWe\u2019re racist. We\u2019re proud. We\u2019re better because we\u2019re white,\u201d at the Martin group as they passed, according to the Chronicle.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Brandon Darby\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brandon_Darby\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Brandon Darby<\/a>\u00a0<a id=\"yui_3_10_1_1_1374624652690_336\" href=\"http:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/Big-Journalism\/2013\/07\/23\/Racist-and-Proud-Sign-Anti-Zimmerman-Smear-Proven-False-Video-Proof\">interviewed Renee Vaughan<\/a>\u00a0at the rally. She told him her sign means that \u201cthere are people here who are racist and apparently think that\u2019s OK. I\u2019m not one of them.
