{"id":19104,"date":"2013-06-07T19:54:56","date_gmt":"2013-06-07T23:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=19104"},"modified":"2013-06-07T19:54:56","modified_gmt":"2013-06-07T23:54:56","slug":"the-numbers-behind-the-jobs-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=19104","title":{"rendered":"The Numbers Behind The Jobs Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.investors.com\/ibd-editorials\/060713-659267-obama-recovery-76-million-jobs-below-average.htm\">Investors Business Daily<\/a> posted an article today on the latest jobs numbers.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Although somewhat better than expected, the 175,000 net jobs created in May continues the historically tepid jobs growth trend that has come to characterize the now four-year-old economic recovery.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The result has been continued high unemployment, a vast pool of long-term jobless, and an unprecedented number of people who&#8217;ve dropped out of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Labor force\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Labor_force\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">labor force<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article reminds us that there are 2.4 million fewer people working than there were in January 2008. The <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Democratic Party (United States)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.democrats.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Democrats<\/a> have attempted to blame the slow job growth on <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Sequestration (law)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sequestration_%28law%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">sequestration<\/a>, but that doesn&#8217;t make sense. Sequestration did not go into effect until March, and sequestration cut the rate of growth&#8211;it did not cut the budget.<\/p>\n<p>The article also points out:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;the total number of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Public sector\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Public_sector\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">government jobs<\/a> climbed more than 7,000 since January (not including <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Postal Service\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usps.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">U.S. Postal Service<\/a> jobs, which get included in government statistics even though the USPS is independently run).<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>It really is time to shrink the government.
