{"id":19064,"date":"2013-06-05T10:15:50","date_gmt":"2013-06-05T14:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=19064"},"modified":"2013-06-05T10:16:42","modified_gmt":"2013-06-05T14:16:42","slug":"disturbing-testimony-in-congress","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=19064","title":{"rendered":"Disturbing Testimony in Congress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday <a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2013\/06\/04\/witness-irs-warned-us-not-to-protest-planned-parenthood\/\">Hot Air<\/a> posted a story about the testimony before the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States House Committee on Ways and Means\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_House_Committee_on_Ways_and_Means\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">House Ways and Means Committee<\/a> by a leader of one of the conservative groups targeted by the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Internal Revenue Service\" href=\"http:\/\/www.irs.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Internal Revenue Service (IRS)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sue Martinek, President of the Coalition for Life of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Iowa\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=42.0,-93.0&amp;spn=3.0,3.0&amp;q=42.0,-93.0 (Iowa)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Iowa<\/a>, detailed some of the correspondence she had received from the IRS:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong> \u201cThe IRS continued questioning us,\u201d Martinek continued. \u201cOn June 22, 2009, IRS Agent <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Keith Richards (II)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/celebrity\/1013088-keith_richards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"rottentomatoes\">Richards<\/a> sent us additional written requests, as follows: \u2018Please explain how all of your activities, including the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Prayer meeting\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Prayer_meeting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">prayer meetings<\/a> held outside of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Planned Parenthood\" href=\"http:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Planned Parenthood<\/a> are considered educational as defined under 501(c)(3).\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>She added: \u201c<a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Organization\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Organization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Organizations<\/a> exempt under 501(c)(3) may present opinions with scientific or medical facts. Please explain in detail the activities at the prayer meetings. Also, please provide the percentage of time your organization spends on prayer groups as compared with the other activities of the organization. Please explain in detail the signs that are being held up outside of Planned Parenthood and explain how they are considered educational.\u2019 When we met at our next board meeting, we all were disappointed with the IRS\u2019 request.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It gets worse. There was one <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States pro-life movement\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_pro-life_movement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">pro-life<\/a> group that was told it would not receive its <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Tax exemption\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tax_exemption\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">tax-exempt status<\/a> unless they signed an agreement not to protest at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. That is not only an infringement of the pro-life groups&#8217; civil rights, it is illegal.<\/p>\n<p>Someone needs to go to jail because of the actions of the IRS.
