Michael Yon (MichaelYon-online<\/a>) has been in Thailand for the past few days reporting on what is going on there.  I don’t believe he has posted anything at his website, but has a profile on Facebook where he is posting what he sees and hears.<\/p>\n

Today’s UK Times Online<\/a> posted a story on what is going on in Thailand.  Anti-government protestors are fighting the military and one of the protest leaders is warning of a civil war.  <\/p>\n

The article states:<\/p>\n

“With at least 30 dead and more than 232 injured since the fighting erupted on Thursday night, pressure on the Thai Government to end the insurrection is growing. A total of 59 people have been killed since violence erupted in April, almost all of them civilians.” <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The protestors have set up fortified encampments within the capital city, and the military has declared these areas “live fire zones”.  <\/p>\n

According to Michael Yon on facebook:<\/p>\n

<\/span>“From what I have seen on the ground, Thai soldiers and police have behaved with restraint. They have controlled their fire. Not fired wildly. They have been responsible in the face of madness.”<\/em><\/font><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The protestors (Red Shirts) have asked for a ceasefire, which the government has refused.  They have also requested UN-brokered talks, but that offer was also refused.  The protestors are demanding the dissolution of Parliament and fresh elections. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
