This is not a joke. This story appeared in the Washington Times<\/a> on Tuesday. I thought I had heard everything when Hank Johnson<\/a> said to Admiral Robert F. Willard<\/a>, Commander of U.S. Pacific Command<\/a>, “My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize<\/a>“, to which Admiral Willard replied, “We don’t anticipate that.” The discussion was part of a House of Representatives hearing on increasing troop strength on Guam<\/a>. The Admiral’s composure when asked the question was amazing. I would like to point out that Representative Johnson has been re-elected twice since that 2010 comment and still serves in the U. S. House of Representatives<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday the Washington Times reported:<\/p>\n

Rep. Barbara Lee<\/a>, California Democrat<\/a>, said in The Hill<\/a> that \u201cfood insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs<\/a>, unplanned pregnancy and poor reproductive health.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moreover, climate change could turn entire populations into refugees \u2014 again, affecting women the most, the resolution suggested, as Newser<\/a> reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So climate change (which isn’t really established as man-made) could result in increased prostitution. I would also like to note that if famine sweeps the world, everyone suffers–not just women.<\/div>\n
