S. Senate<\/a> to endorse the <a title=\"Keystone Pipeline\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Keystone_Pipeline\" target=\"_blank\">Keystone XL pipeline<\/a>. The vote, 62-37, is symbolic, but it does put pressure on <a title=\"Barack Obama\" href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\" target=\"_blank\">President Obama<\/a> to approve the pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>The article states:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Senators also resoundingly defeated, 33-66, an amendment from <a title=\"Barbara Boxer\" href=\"http:\/\/boxer.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sen. Barbara Boxer<\/a> (D-<a title=\"California History\" href=\"http:\/\/seaworldparks.com\/en\/californiahistory\" target=\"_blank\">Calif.<\/a>) that called for \u201cexpeditiously analyzing and making decisions\u201d on the pipeline project. Boxer\u2019s proposal included a long list of criteria for the review, including whether the pipeline would increase oil prices, use materials not manufactured in the U.S., affect individual property rights and otherwise \u201cadversely [affect] job creation\u201d and national security.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cBoth of these votes make it very clear that the Senate will approve this project if the president doesn\u2019t,\u201d <a title=\"John Hoeven\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hoeven.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hoeven<\/a> (R-N.D.) boasted to reporters afterward.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The vote is non-binding, but the article notes that the 62-37 vote is filibuster-proof.<\/p>\n<p>The article also reminds us:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Republicans marked the anniversary (the one-year anniversary of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politicopro.com\/story\/energy\/?id=10212\" target=\"_blank\">Obama\u2019s speech<\/a> at a <a title=\"TransCanada Corporation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.transcanada.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">TransCanada<\/a> pipe storage yard near Cushing, Okla., where he called for making it a \u201cpriority\u201d to expedite approval of Keystone XL\u2019s southern leg) by poking Obama for failing to approve Keystone\u2019s northern portion, which would bring crude oil from <a title=\"Alberta\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=54.5,-115.0&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=54.5,-115.0%20%28Alberta%29&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\">Alberta<\/a>\u2019s oil sands into the U.S.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cIf you recall, the president held a photo op last year to tout his support for the southern part of that pipeline,\u201d <a title=\"John Boehner\" href=\"http:\/\/www.speaker.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">House Speaker John Boehner<\/a> said in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?%20v=Qo0x4kj4dDE\" target=\"_blank\">video<\/a> his office released Friday morning. \u201cThe only problem was that section didn\u2019t need his approval.
