Today’s Boston Herald<\/a> is reporting that as Democrats<\/a> in Congress<\/a> scream that the sequester cuts are the end of the world, the Democrats in the Massachusetts<\/a> congressional delegation<\/a> spent nearly $200,000 in bonuses, pay hikes and new hires in a timeworn tradition of end-of-the-year handouts. Despite their concern about closing the federal deficit<\/a>, the Massachusetts congressmen increased their payroll by $196,000 in the last three months of 2012.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

Local Democrats tried to place the lion\u2019s share of the blame on House Republicans for forcing the sequestration because they hold a majority in the House.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of them come to Washington<\/a> because they don\u2019t like government, they don\u2019t think government should play a role in our lives. Maybe they don\u2019t know anybody who needs heating assistance,\u201d Capuano<\/a> said at a local anti-sequester rally in February.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ian Prior, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee<\/a>, said, \u201cThe fact that the delegation is bemoaning all the cuts and saying they are standing up for the working class<\/a> while they are passing out bonuses and beefing up their staff is rank hypocrisy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Until America’s voters wake up to the fact that they are being taken to the cleaners by their so-called representatives, I think we can expect more of the same.<\/p>\n
