{"id":1800,"date":"2010-04-18T15:45:52","date_gmt":"2010-04-18T15:45:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=1800"},"modified":"2010-04-18T15:45:52","modified_gmt":"2010-04-18T15:45:52","slug":"the_coming_nuclear_iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=1800","title":{"rendered":"The Coming Nuclear Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/world\/israeli-president-shimon-peres-on-memorial-day-iran-threatens-whole-world-not-just-israel-91410169.html\">Washington Examiner<\/a>&nbsp;quotes Israeli President Shimon Peres as saying that Iran is a threat to the whole world&#8211;not just to Israel.&nbsp; He made that statement while speaking&nbsp;at a memorial service for soldiers and civilians killed in Israel&#8217;s wars and terror attacks.<\/p>\n<p>The Washington Examiner reports:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><span style=\"LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana','sans-serif'; COLOR: black; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA\"><em>&#8220;Peres added that a threat to &#8220;the peace of the Jewish people always carries the danger of turning into a threat to the civilized world as a whole.&#8221;<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>David Aikman, former journalist for TIME magazine, is quoted as saying that Jewish communities everywhere in the world have often been known as the &#8216;canary in the coal mine.&#8217;&nbsp; The way a government behaves toward Jews is the first sign of how it intends to treat all the people under its control.&nbsp; We need to keep this thought in mind as we watch the nations of the world deal with the threat of Iran going nuclear.&nbsp; Israel is not the only nation at risk, and if we ignore the risk to the entire world, we do&nbsp;so at our own peril.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/04\/18\/world\/middleeast\/18iran.html\">New York Times<\/a>&nbsp;reported yesterday that Defense Secretary <a class=\"meta-per\" title=\"More articles about Robert M. Gates.\" href=\"http:\/\/topics.nytimes.com\/top\/reference\/timestopics\/people\/g\/robert_m_gates\/index.html?inline=nyt-per\"><font color=\"#004276\">Robert M.
