{"id":17897,"date":"2013-03-11T11:17:15","date_gmt":"2013-03-11T15:17:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=17897"},"modified":"2013-03-11T11:17:16","modified_gmt":"2013-03-11T15:17:16","slug":"fuzzy-math-in-massachusetts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=17897","title":{"rendered":"Fuzzy Math In Massachusetts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Holly Robichaud posted a column at the <a href=\"http:\/\/bostonherald.com\/news_opinion\/columnists\/holly_robichaud\/2013\/03\/treasurer_has_bad_math_on_illegals\">Boston Herald<\/a> today about a statement by <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Massachusetts\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=42.3,-71.8&amp;spn=3.0,3.0&amp;q=42.3,-71.8 (Massachusetts)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">Massachusetts<\/a> Treasurer Steve Grossman concerning the cost of illegal aliens to the state.<\/p>\n<p>The article states:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>At this eight-town South Shore <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Democratic Party (United States)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.democrats.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Democratic<\/a> Caucus, like Gov. <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Deval Patrick\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/governor\/administration\/governor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Deval Patrick<\/a>, Grossman came out in favor of in-state <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Tuition payments\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tuition_payments\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">tuition<\/a> breaks for <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Illegal immigration\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Illegal_immigration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">illegal immigrants<\/a>, putting him at odds with <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Middle class\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Middle_class\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">middle-class<\/a> voters and union members, but firmly on the side of moonbat liberals who don\u2019t believe in enforcing our laws. Is it no wonder why Democratic State Party <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Chairman\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chairman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Chairman<\/a> <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"John E. Walsh\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_E._Walsh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">John Walsh<\/a> doesn\u2019t like primaries?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>&#8230;Grossman went on to deny that it costs money to give these breaks. To quote him: \u201c(Opponents) say it will cost us money. Once again, this is absolutely wrong.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The article points out that in-state-tuition breaks are subsidized by the taxpayers of Massachusetts and do actually cost money.<\/p>\n<p>The article points out:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Vaughn (Jessica M. Vaughan, director of policy studies for the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Center for Immigration Studies\" href=\"http:\/\/cis.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">Center for Immigration Studies<\/a>) estimates that taxpayers are spending anywhere from $3,000 to $15,000 per illegal immigrant student, depending on the school. Using her estimates, if just 100 illegals get the break, it will costs us $300,000 to $1.5 million for one year. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, more than 225,000 illegals live in the commonwealth.
