{"id":1706,"date":"2010-03-19T13:01:37","date_gmt":"2010-03-19T13:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=1706"},"modified":"2010-03-19T13:01:37","modified_gmt":"2010-03-19T13:01:37","slug":"the_impact_of_healthcare_refor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=1706","title":{"rendered":"The Impact Of Healthcare Reform On Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/blogs\/beltway-confidential\/Caterpillar-Inc-says-Obamacare-would-cost-them-100-million-in-first-year-88562012.html\">Washington Examiner<\/a>&nbsp;is reporting that Caterpillar, Inc., has sent a letter to the House of Representatives asking them not to pass the current healthcare reform bill, stating that the bill will increase the company&#8217;s healthcare costs by $100 million in the first year alone.&nbsp; The provisions in the bill that were of the most concern were the expansion of Medicare taxes and the requirement to provide health insurance for all employees.&nbsp; The increased costs will make it very difficult to expand the business or hire new employees.<\/p>\n<p>Caterpillar, Inc.,&nbsp;believes that this bill is a job killer.&nbsp; They are not alone.&nbsp; Yesterday 130 economists said in a letter to President Obama that the healthcare reform bill is a job killer.&nbsp; (Frankly, I am amazed that 130 economists could agree on anything!)&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>The article points out:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><span style=\"LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; FONT-FAMILY: 'Verdana', 'sans-serif'; COLOR: black; FONT-SIZE: 9pt; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA\"><em><font face=\"Verdana\">&#8220;The Peoria-based company (Caterpillar, Inc.) is one of <\/font><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagobreakingbusiness.com\/2010\/03\/illinois-unemployment-hits-122-in-january.html\"><span style=\"LINE-HEIGHT: 115%; COLOR: #ac0505; TEXT-DECORATION: none; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; text-underline: none\"><em><font face=\"Verdana\">many hard-hit employers<\/font><\/em><\/span><\/a><em><font face=\"Verdana\"> in Illinois, which has an unemployment rate of 12.2 percent.
