{"id":16808,"date":"2012-12-22T11:56:41","date_gmt":"2012-12-22T16:56:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=16808"},"modified":"2012-12-22T11:56:41","modified_gmt":"2012-12-22T16:56:41","slug":"does-this-make-sense","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=16808","title":{"rendered":"Does This Make Sense ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A website called<a href=\"http:\/\/247wallst.com\/2012\/12\/21\/workers-at-gm-ford-to-score-nice-bonuses-this-year\/\"> 24\/7 Wall St<\/a> posted an article yesterday stating that hourly workers for <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"NYSE: GM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/finance?q=NYSE:GM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"googlefinance\">General Motors<\/a> will receive bonuses this year of between $5,500 and $7,000 each.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>The payments are based on a formula that gives workers a $1 bonus for every $1 million in <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"North America\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?ll=48.1666666667,-100.166666667&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=48.1666666667,-100.166666667 (North%20America)&amp;t=h\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"geolocation\">North American<\/a> <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Profit (accounting)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Profit_%28accounting%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">operating profit<\/a> at the two companies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday (as reported at<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=16779\"> rightwinggranny.com<\/a>) the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/article\/20121219\/AUTO0103\/212190382\/Treasury-announces-GM-exit-strategy-automaker-buying-200-million-shares-from-U-S-?odyssey=mod|breaking|text|FRONTPAGE\">Detroit News<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Still, <a title=\"Tax\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tax\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">taxpayers<\/a> will almost certainly lose billions of dollars in the $49.5 billion GM bailout. If the government sold the rest of its stock at <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"current prices\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oil-price.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"homepage\">current prices<\/a>, taxpayers would lose more than $13 billion.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It just seems odd to me that the taxpayers are out $13 billion and the workers are getting bonuses of up to $7,000.
