{"id":16607,"date":"2012-12-04T10:16:33","date_gmt":"2012-12-04T15:16:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=16607"},"modified":"2012-12-04T10:16:34","modified_gmt":"2012-12-04T15:16:34","slug":"one-reason-things-in-washington-dont-seem-to-be-changing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=16607","title":{"rendered":"One Reason Things In Washington Don&#8217;t Seem To Be Changing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Tea Party movement\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tea_Party_movement\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">Tea Party movement<\/a> toward smaller government and lower taxes began sometime around 2009. <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"The Tea Party\" href=\"http:\/\/teaparty.com\" rel=\"homepage\" target=\"_blank\">The Tea Party<\/a> has elected a number of its members to the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States House of Representatives\" href=\"http:\/\/www.house.gov\/\" rel=\"homepage\" target=\"_blank\">House of Representatives<\/a> in the past two elections. Why hasn&#8217;t anything changed?<\/p>\n<p>One clue can be found in an article posted at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/2012\/12\/03\/the-purge-of-conservatives-continues\/\">RedState.com<\/a> on December 3. The article points out that the conservative Republicans supported by the Tea Party are being excluded from leadership positions on the various <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"List of United States House of Representatives committees\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/List_of_United_States_House_of_Representatives_committees\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">House Committees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Maybe it\u2019s because he\u2019s intent on repealing Dodd-Frank.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s because he wants to use his committee assignment to advocate winding down <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Fannie Mae\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fanniemae.com\/\" rel=\"homepage\" target=\"_blank\">Fannie Mae<\/a> and Freddie Mac.\u00a0 Perhaps it\u2019s because of his opposition to the $1 trillion farm bill.\u00a0 Maybe it\u2019s because he\u2019s just too darn conservative to sit on an important committee.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Earlier today, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.redstate.com\/2012\/12\/03\/a-bunch-of-squishes-chosen-for-the-super-a-house-committees\/\">we provided a list of those who made it<\/a> onto the Super A committees.\u00a0 Well, Rep. <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"David Schweikert\" href=\"http:\/\/www.david10.com\" rel=\"homepage\" target=\"_blank\">David Schweikert<\/a> (R-AZ) is a conservative freshman member who was actually kicked off the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States House Committee on Financial Services\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_House_Committee_on_Financial_Services\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">Financial Services Committee<\/a>.\u00a0 Members are rarely kicked off committees unless there is a scandal.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>David Schweikert is one of those 2010 freshmen who is actually a Tea Partier in deed as well as rhetoric.\u00a0 While many freshmen folded under the pressure from leadership, Schweikert was actually removed from the Whip team because of his conservative dissent during the budget battles.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If we have the same President we have had for the past four years and the same Congressional leadership we have had for the past four years, why should we expect things to change?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dyn.politico.com\/printstory.cfm?uuid=FA7075E4-D5B1-4D7B-B85C-9603A2FBE5D9\">Politico<\/a> reported yesterday that conservative groups are protesting some of the decisions made by Boehner&#8217;s leadership team.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>On Monday, in a closed meeting, House Republicans booted Amash, Schweikert, Huelskamp and <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Walter B. Jones\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Walter_B._Jones\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">Rep. Walter Jones<\/a> (R-N.C.) from plum committee assignments. Retribution for members who voted against Boehner\u2019s team was long discussed in leadership circles. It was low-risk for Boehner \u2014 he went after three freshman and Jones, who has long been a pariah in the House Republican establishment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Huelskamp, who lost his seat on the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States House Committee on the Budget\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_House_Committee_on_the_Budget\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">Budget Committee<\/a>, was particularly stung. The budget is his main issue, and he sent a blistering statement Monday evening, saying \u201cthe <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Republican Party (United States)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gop.com\/\" rel=\"homepage\" target=\"_blank\">GOP<\/a> leadership might think they have silenced conservatives, but removing me and others from key committees only confirms our conservative convictions.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cThis is clearly a vindictive move, and a sure sign that the GOP establishment cannot handle disagreement,\u201d Huelskamp said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If we want America to survive, Republicans have only one option&#8211;vote out the current Washington leadership and bring in the fiscal conservatives.<\/p>\n<div class=\"zemanta-pixie\" style=\"margin-top: 10px; height: 15px;\"><a class=\"zemanta-pixie-a\" title=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zemanta.com\/?px\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-pixie-img\" style=\"border: none; float: right;\" src=\"http:\/\/img.zemanta.com\/zemified_e.png?x-id=2bd79fe0-afd8-4a0e-b900-f07ff21da65e\" alt=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tea Party movement toward smaller government and lower taxes began sometime around 2009.
