Like the rest of the country, Massachusetts<\/a> is looking at tax<\/a> increases in the coming year. Today’s Attleboro Sun Chronicle<\/a> reported a suggestion from Representative<\/a> Dan Winslow.<\/p>\n

I am not sure how serious a suggestion this is, but I love it. The Sun Chronicle<\/a> reports:<\/p>\n

Winslow says the solution to the tax talk is simple \u2014 make politicians dig into their own pockets first.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0Winslow, R-Norfolk<\/a>, is proposing a 25 percent tax on leftover campaign money at the end of each election cycle be poured into state coffers.<\/strong><\/div>\n

\u201cThere is more than 20 million dollars sitting in war chests after campaign season,\u201d he said. \u201cWhy not tap into that?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Winslow said that if politicians were taxed on their campaign treasuries, $5 million would be subtracted from the additional amount individual taxpayers might be hit with.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cOn Beacon Hill<\/a>, there has been talk from the Democrats<\/a> that there will be an increase in retail revenue and that we will be charged a penny for mileage along the Mass<\/a> state highway,\u201d he said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reason for potential tax increases is desperation and poor leadership, Winslow said.<\/strong><\/p>\n
