WAFF.com<\/a>, an Alabama<\/a> news site<\/a>, is reporting that utility crews from Decatur, Alabama<\/a>, were told that they would not be allowed to help in the New Jersey<\/a> clean-up unless they affiliated with a union.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

The general<\/a> manager of Decatur Utilities, Ray Hardin told Fox Business<\/a> they were presented documents from the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers at a staging area<\/a> in Virginia<\/a>. The documents stated they had to affiliate with a union to work, which the crews could not agree to.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hardin said the crews were told this was a requirement to work.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As they waited for confirmation<\/a> on the documents, crews received word that Seaside Heights<\/a> had received the assistance they needed from other sources.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The crew returned home on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Huntsville Utilities said they were not turned away and are in Long Island, New York<\/a> working.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Joe Wheeler EMC said they did not respond to New Jersey, but did go up to Maryland<\/a> and headed home once they were done.<\/strong><\/p>\n
