The Daily Beast<\/a> is reporting today that American<\/a> intelligence services were aware within 24 hours that the attacks on the American Embassy in Benghazi<\/a> were the work of al Qaeda<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

Three separate U.S. intelligence officials who spoke to The Daily Beast said the early information was enough to show that the attack was planned and the work of al Qaeda affiliates operating in Eastern Libya<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are at war, and I understand the need for secrecy, but what reason would the current administration have to lie to the American people about this attack?<\/p>\n

The question of what the White House<\/a> knew, and when they knew it, will be of keen interest to members of Congress<\/a> in the election year. Last Thursday, the Obama administration<\/a> formally briefed House and Senate members on the attack. Those briefings however failed to satisfy many members, particularly Republicans<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cThat is the most useless, worthless briefing I have attended in a long time,\u201d Sen. Bob Corker<\/a>, a Tennessee Republican, was quoted as saying<\/a>. \u201cThere was very good information on this in the first 24 hours. These guys have a return address.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

After a while, you begin to wonder how much of what the Obama Administration is telling America is actually true.<\/p>\n
