{"id":1510,"date":"2010-01-10T18:14:03","date_gmt":"2010-01-10T18:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=1510"},"modified":"2010-01-10T18:14:03","modified_gmt":"2010-01-10T18:14:03","slug":"healthcare_reform_and_medicare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=1510","title":{"rendered":"Healthcare Reform And Medicare Spending"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to a post at&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/75051-cms-report-raises-doubts-over-democrats-medicare-savings-claims\">The Hill<\/a>&nbsp;yesterday, the Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS)&nbsp;is questioning the Medicare savings the Democrats in Congress are claiming will occur with the passage of the current healthcare reform bill.<\/p>\n<p>The article points out:<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\" dir=\"ltr\"><em>&#8220;The CMS report estimated that national health expenditures would increase by $222 billion or 0.6 percent from 2010 to 2019.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>&#8220;The Senate plan purports to achieve $483 billion in Medicare savings over the next 10 years, including $118 billion in cuts to Medicare Advantage plans, a program favored by Republicans that distributes Medicare benefits through private providers.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px\" dir=\"ltr\">The CMS report stated that the increase in the number of people receiving some form of government healthcare&nbsp;is bound to increase the cost to some extent.&nbsp; The slated cuts in Medicare are scheduled to occur at a time when the &#8216;baby boomers,&#8217; a large segment of the country&#8217;s population will become eligible for Medicare.&nbsp; That simply does not make sense.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to a post at&nbsp;The Hill&nbsp;yesterday, the Centers for Medicare &amp; Medicaid Services (CMS)&nbsp;is questioning the Medicare savings the Democrats in Congress are claiming will occur with the passage of the current healthcare reform bill.
