{"id":15068,"date":"2012-08-11T13:12:43","date_gmt":"2012-08-11T17:12:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=15068"},"modified":"2012-08-11T13:12:44","modified_gmt":"2012-08-11T17:12:44","slug":"sometimes-you-just-have-to-laugh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=15068","title":{"rendered":"Sometimes You Just Have To Laugh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.palmbeachpost.com\/news\/news\/west-says-ad-plays-on-racial-stereotypes-naacp-dis\/nQPcM\/\">Palm Beach Post<\/a> reported that the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"National Association for the Advancement of Colored People\" href=\"http:\/\/www.naacp.org\/\" rel=\"homepage\" target=\"_blank\">NAACP<\/a> has stated that a <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Campaign advertising\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Campaign_advertising\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">campaign ad<\/a> showing Representative Allen West punching a while woman is not racially offensive.<\/p>\n<p>The article reports:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>NAACP Washington Bureau Director Hilary O. Shelton, the organization\u2019s chief federal lobbyist, said he watched the ad three or four times.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>\u201cIt is a typical campaign ad,\u201d said Shelton. \u201cI don\u2019t see it playing on stereotypes.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>American Sunrise got $250,000 of its initial $350,050 budget from Coastal Construction CEO Thomas Murphy Jr., who is <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Patrick Murphy (politician)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patrick_Murphy_%28politician%29\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">Patrick Murphy<\/a>\u2019s father. The <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Political action committee\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Political_action_committee\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">PAC<\/a>, which says it aims to \u201creduce the hostile environment of governing in today\u2019s <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United States Congress\" href=\"http:\/\/www.house.gov\/\" rel=\"homepage\" target=\"_blank\">Congress<\/a>,\u201d lists Patrick Murphy as the only candidate it supports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Would the ad be racially offensive if the Representative were punching a black woman? Just a thought.<\/p>\n<p>It really isn&#8217;t about racial sensitivity&#8211;it&#8217;s about Democrat party politics.
