Meatless Monday is an initiative of The Monday Campaign Inc. in association with the John Hopkins School of <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Public health\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Public_health\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">Public Health<\/a>.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Pointing to the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"United Nations\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Nations\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">United Nations<\/a> as their informational authority, the USDA\u2019s newsletter said that going meatless is good for the environment because \u201canimal agriculture is a major source of greenhouse gases and climate change. It also wastes resources. It takes 7,000 kg of grain to make 1,000 kg of beef. In addition, beef production requires a lot of water, fertilizer, fossil fuels, and pesticides.\u201d It further charged that heavy <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Meat\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wikinvest.com\/industry\/Meat\" rel=\"wikinvest\" target=\"_blank\">meat consumption<\/a> has detrimental health effect.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Human beings have canine teeth, which are designed for eating meat.
