It is May. Elections in America are 5 1\/2 months away. There is no reason for the current level of misinformation and insanity that is already swirling around us.<\/p>\n

Breitbart.com<\/a>\u00a0reported today on the latest developments in the “Is Elizabeth Warren<\/a> an American Indian<\/a> controversy.” Frankly, it really is not an important questions unless she used her supposed American Indian heritage to advance her career when the heritage did not exist. One of my daughters (a lawyer), in commenting to me about this controversy, pointed out that in order for my daughter to join the Daughters of the American Revolution<\/a>, she would have to prove her ancestry. If colleges are offering scholarships and special opportunities to people of specific ethnic backgrounds, why are they not checking those backgrounds? I am reminded of a 1986\u00a0movie entitled “Soul Man<\/a>” where C. Thomas Howell<\/a> plays a young white man posing\u00a0as a young black man to receive a full scholarship to Harvard.<\/p>\n

Anyway, the latest in the saga of the American Indians in Elizabeth Warren’s family…The campaign has offered two pieces of evidence supposedly supporting Ms. Warren’s claim of being an American Indian. The first was\u00a0a statement by genealogist Chris Child of the New England Historic Genealogical Society<\/a>. That statement was debunked in a Breitbart <\/a>article a few days ago. The second is the fact that Elizabeth Warren’s cousin Mrs. James P. Rowsey edited and published a cookbook in 1984 — Pow Wow Chow: A Collection of Recipes from Families of the Five Civilized Tribes: Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek & Seminole<\/a>.<\/p>\n
