{"id":13512,"date":"2012-04-30T05:19:28","date_gmt":"2012-04-30T09:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=13512"},"modified":"2012-04-30T05:19:28","modified_gmt":"2012-04-30T09:19:28","slug":"saudi-arabia-has-closed-its-embassy-in-cairo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rightwinggranny.com\/?p=13512","title":{"rendered":"Saudi Arabia Has Closed Its Embassy In Cairo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ft.com\/intl\/cms\/s\/0\/020bc37c-91c0-11e1-abdf-00144feab49a.html#axzz1tVq0Kfj1\">Financial Times<\/a>\u00a0reported that Saudi Arabia has closed its embassy in Cairo after protests by Egyptian activists at the embassy. The protesters are protesting the arrest of Ahmed al-Gizawy, who was arrested when he arrived in Saudi Arabia for a pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina. The Saudis have accused Mr. al-Gizawy of smuggling Xanax (which is an illegal substance in Saudi Arabia) into the country.<\/p>\n<p>The article further reports that the protesters believe that Mr. al-Gizawy is being held because of a court case he brought in Cairo over the illegal detention of Egyptians in Saudi Arabia. The Egyptians have been held without trial. Mr. al-Gizawy had been tried and sentenced in absentia in a Saudi court, but was not told that in advance of his trip.<\/p>\n<p>Before the fall of Mubarak, the government of Egypt would not have allowed protests against the Saudis. One reason I find this interesting is that I believe that the rulers of Saudi Arabia are the next target of the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Muslim Brotherhood\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ikhwanonline.com\/\" rel=\"homepage\" target=\"_blank\">Muslim Brotherhood<\/a> in the &#8216;Arab Spring.&#8217; They are the major non-democracy still standing in the Middle East. Despite the fact that Saudi Arabia practices <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Sharia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sharia\" rel=\"wikipedia\" target=\"_blank\">Sharia Law<\/a>, it is under the control of the Saudi royal family&#8211;not the Muslim Brotherhood.<\/p>\n<p>Make no mistake, the Muslim Brotherhood supports a world-wide caliphate&#8211;but only one which they control.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div class=\"zemanta-pixie\" style=\"margin-top: 10px; height: 15px;\"><a class=\"zemanta-pixie-a\" title=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" href=\"http:\/\/www.zemanta.com\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"zemanta-pixie-img\" style=\"float: right; border-style: none;\" src=\"http:\/\/img.zemanta.com\/zemified_e.png?x-id=e7520bee-854e-4d79-b353-7dfe7274da3b\" alt=\"Enhanced by Zemanta\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yesterday&#8217;s Financial Times\u00a0reported that Saudi Arabia has closed its embassy in Cairo after protests by Egyptian activists at the embassy.
