Military commanders said the code, transmitted<br \/>\nverbally by radio, helped save countless American lives and bring a<br \/>\nspeedier end to the <span style=\"background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer; -moz-background-clip: border; -moz-background-origin: padding; -moz-background-inline-policy: continuous;\" class=\"yshortcuts\" id=\"lw_1257887308_7\">war in the Pacific theater<\/span>.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Code Talkers, using a code based on the ancient <span style=\"background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer; -moz-background-clip: border; -moz-background-origin: padding; -moz-background-inline-policy: continuous;\" class=\"yshortcuts\" id=\"lw_1257887308_11\">Navajo language<\/span>, changed the course of the war in the pacific.&nbsp; The article reports:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><i>&#8220;In the first 48 hours of the battle of Iwo Jima, six Code Talkers<br \/>\nworked nonstop, transmitting and receiving more than 800 messages about<br \/>\ntroop movement and enemy fire &#8212; none deciphered by the Japanese.
