The canary in the coal mine is in trouble. When bad things happen to the Jews or to Israel<\/a>, shortly afterward, bad things begin to happen to the rest of us.<\/p>\n

Breitbart.com<\/a> is reporting today that Turkey has blocked Israel from attending a NATO summit<\/a> to be held in Chicago in May. The Turks claim that the move was made in retaliation for the refusal of Israel to formally apologize for its attack on the Mavi Marmara.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

The Obama Administration, whose fearless leader just assured Jews of his support for Israel at the Holocaust Museum, was noncommittal in its response when queried whether they would openly state to NATO<\/a> that they wanted Israel to participate.\u00a0 State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland was evasive<\/a> when she was confronted:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Q: Well, would you be \u2014 would the United [States] \u2014 would the administration be comfortable if Israel did not participate?<\/strong><\/p>\n

MS. NULAND: Again, we \u2014 there are many, many ways that these partnership activities may go forward. They\u2019ve been done in different ways at different summits. So I\u2019m not going to get into what we\u2019re talking about, how it might work, who\u2019s going to come. We\u2019re still working on all of that.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Q: You \u2014 the administration won\u2019t come out and say that it wants Israel to be at the \u2014 to participate at the \u2014 at the \u2014 at the summit in Chicago?<\/strong><\/p>\n

MS. NULAND: We haven\u2019t made any announcements \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Q: \u2026 If you can\u2019t come out and say that the United States<\/a> wants Israel to participate, its main ally in the Middle East, and you won\u2019t come out and say that the administration wants them to participate in whatever event is going on in Chicago, that\u2019s \u2014 that is going to be seized on \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

MS. NULAND: So every summit is done on a case-by-case basis, and we haven\u2019t made a decision about who\u2019s going to be invited yet \u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n

Q: \u2026 But the Turks wouldn\u2019t be objecting to Israel\u2019s participation, if someone hadn\u2019t proposed that Israel participate. And if you have proposed that they participate \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

MS. NULAND: Again \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

Q: \u2014 and you\u2019re not willing to stick up for it, I don\u2019t understand why \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

MS. NULAND: I\u2019m not going to get into, here, what we have proposed and where we are in the internal dialogue at NATO until the issues are settled by consensus.<\/strong><\/p>\n

So Turkey, whose government is now run by Islamists and whose leader is ostensibly Obama\u2019s friend, is dictating policy to the United States. And as usual, Obama is only too willing to throw Israel under the bus.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It’s time to elect a President who will actually support Israel.<\/p>\n
