Today’s U.K. Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0posted a story about Glasgow-based Saif Rehman, 31, and Uzma Naurin, 30, from New York, <\/span>murdered in Pakistan earlier this month.<\/p>\n

The article reports:<\/p>\n

Police in the country say Miss Naurin\u2019s taxi driver father, 58-year-old Muzaffar Hussain, is being viewed as a chief suspect in the shootings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The family of the bride was not happy about the couple’s marriage, and the murder is believed to be an ‘honor killing.’<\/p>\n

Mr. Hussain had complained of chest pains and was taken to the hospital. His daughter, Miss Naurin, rushed to the hospital to see him. The article relates the story:<\/p>\n

While in hospital, Mr Hussain is said to have asked his driver \u2013 \u2018Adeel\u2019 \u2013 to take her daughter and son-in-law to Gujrat for a shopping trip. At around 5.30pm, Adeel received a call on his mobile phone, he stopped the car and got out \u2013 then moments later the gunmen pounced. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Police investigating the killings later found Mr Hussain was no longer in hospital. Officers say he drove to the port city of Karachi in a rental car and boarded a flight for the U.S.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mr Hussain, who lives in a \u00a3250,000 house in Jersey City, New Jersey, with his wife Munir Begun, 55, insisted he did not know who had killed their daughter and her husband.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The good news here is that at least Pakistan is regarding the murder as a crime. Unfortunately, honor killing is an acceptable part of devout Islam. If a family member is behaving in a way that is considered to bring shame on the family, the family must kill that family member.<\/p>\n

The number of honor killings in the United States has risen in recent years as the number of Muslims living in the country increases. I am not opposed to Muslims living in America, and I am not opposed to Muslims practicing their religion in America, but everyone in America, regardless of religion, needs to obey the laws of the land. I hope that Mr. Hussain, if he is guilty, receives the full penalty of the law in Pakistan for murdering his daughter and her husband.<\/p>\n
