Hugh Hewitt, on his blog at Townhall.com puts forth a plan for an alternative stimulus package. It has four main points. The first point is a tax credit for first time homeowners (with a deadline to close the loan). The second is investment into nuclear energy (with quick-start provisions). The third is an increase in the number of navy ships. As the world is becoming more dangerous, we need to have mobile forces that can deal with major problems around the world. Also, shipbuilding, because it impacts so many other industries, can be a major boost to the economy. The fourth suggestion involves allowing the government to purchase land from landowners who have not been able to develop their land due to environmental concerns.
