This Isn’t News To Anyone Who Has Been Paying Attention

Yesterday CBN News posted a article about recent statements by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The article reports:

As he nears the end of his term, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon admitted Friday the organization has a “disproportionate” amount of resolutions against Israel. 

He says the anti-Israel sentiment has “foiled the ability of the U.N. to fulfill its role effectively.” 

“Over the last decade I have argued that we cannot have a bias against Israel at the U.N.,” Ban told the U.N. Security Council.

“Decades of political maneuvering have created a disproportionate number of resolutions, reports and committees against Israel,” he added. 

“In many cases, instead of helping the Palestinian issue, this reality has foiled the ability of the U.N. to fulfill its role effectively,” he emphasized. 

Israeli Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon said that Ban “had admitted the clear truth.” 

He also added that the U.N.’s hypocrisy toward Israel had “broken records over the past decade.” 

“During this time the U.N. passed 223 resolutions condemning Israel, while only eight resolutions condemning the Syrian regime as it has massacred its citizens over the past six years. This is absurd,” Danon said. 

He also added that Israel looks forward to a new secretary-general. 

While I admire the optimism of Israel in looking forward to a new secretary-general, I am not at all convinced that the problem is in that office. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was formed in 1969. It has 57 member states. These states comprise a major voting bloc in the United Nations. The members of the OIC have been very active in the United Nations Human Rights Commission. Their goal is to make any negative comments about Islam or Mohammad illegal. The OIC has attempted to push seven ‘defamation of religion’ resolutions through the U.N. at the Human Rights Commission. The Islamic definition of human rights does not include free speech as we know it. It also includes Sharia Law as the test of those rights. Therefore, the killing of non-Muslims would not be seen as a crime equal to the killing of Muslims. Therefore the killing of Christian civilians would not be noteworthy. That is what Israel faces in the U.N. I truly believe that it is time for the U.N. to go away.

When Their True Colors Show…

Islam is not a tolerant religion–women are stoned for adultery, thieves have their hands cut off, infidels are beheaded, and homosexual men are thrown off the tops of buildings to their death. In an Islamic country, if you don’t fit the Islamic picture of what you are supposed to be, your life can get very complicated very quickly. There was an example of how this principle works internationally this week.

Fox News reported on Wednesday that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), a major voting block in the United Nations, prevented 11 gay and transgender rights organizations from attending a meeting at the United Nations next month on ending AIDS. The OIC was organized in 1969 with the stated goal of “revitalizing Islam’s  pioneering role in the world.” At that time, it was called the Organization of the Islamic Conference. In 2011, it was renamed the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation. The purpose of the organization is to be the voice of the Muslim world and to safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world. Its membership includes 57 countries.

The article at Fox News reports:

In Egypt’s letter, a reason for the OIC’s rejection of the groups was not specified, but Samantha Power, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said the groups appeared to have been blocked for their role in LGBT advocacy.

“Given that transgender people are 49 times more likely to be living with HIV than the general population, their exclusion from the high-level meeting will only impede global progress in combating the HIV/AIDS pandemic,” Power wrote in a letter to General Assembly President Mogens Lykketoft.

U.N. officials told Reuters that the E.U. and Canada also wrote letters to Lykketoft in protest.

“The movement to block the participation of NGOs on spurious or hidden grounds is becoming epidemic and severely damages the credibility of the U.N.,” Powers added.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon – caught in the middle of the battle for gay rights – has been an advocate for LGBT equality but has faced opposition from African and Arab states as well as Russia and China. In February, the countries protested six new U.N. stamps promoting LGBT equality.

The items on the liberal wish list in America are in direct contradiction to Islamic law. It will be interesting to see when the American left wakes up to this fact. When the gay population that supports the agenda of the political left realizes that under Sharia Law they will be killed, they may stop advocating for American courts to accept Sharia Law.

 

How Things Work In The Middle East

Today The Blaze posted an article about the rocket attacks on Israel during the past two weeks. Somehow the media and the international community  have remained silent on the issue. Prime Minister Netanyahu pointed out that there will be a lot of media coverage as soon as Israel retaliated–the United Nations and most of the media would come out against Israel.

The article gives a possible explanation for the recent attacks:

The Times of Israel noted that following a Palestinian rocket attack last week, a spokesman for U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called on “all parties to avoid further escalation and prevent incidents that jeopardize the lives of Israeli and Palestinian civilians.”

…The Saturday night launch was the third rocket attack on southern Israeli communities in the past two weeks.

A radical Salafist terrorist group linked to the Islamic State group took responsibility for two of the rocket firings.

The Times of Israel quoted Israeli military sources who said they suspect Omar Brigades, a Salafist group which views the ruling Hamas as a rival, has launched the rockets in order to provoke an Israeli military response against Hamas targets, and thus weaken its rival.

Note that the U.N. statement does not condemn the actions of the group firing the rocket, it just states that things should not escalate. Until the U.N. and the world community begin to condemn the side initiating the rocket attacks, the attacks will continue. Unfortunately, the world community is enabling a bully to continue attacks and condemning the bullied when they defend themselves.

 

Putting The Foxes In Charge Of The Henhouse

CNS News is reporting today that Iran has been named to the “bureau” overseeing a month-long United Nations conference in New York aimed at finalizing a controversial global “arms trade treaty.

This is another reason to ask politely that the United Nations get out of New York and America get out of the United Nations.

The article reports:

Furthermore, according to an expert panel monitoring U.N. sanctions on Iran, Tehran continues to flout a Security Council ban on exporting its weaponry, with Syria the main recipient.

“This is like choosing Bernie Madoff to police fraud on the stock market,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, a non-governmental monitoring group based in Geneva, which drew attention to Iran’s elevation to the conference bureau.

UN Watch is urging U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to condemn the move:

“He should remind the conference that the Security Council has imposed four rounds of sanctions on Iran for refusing to halt its prohibited nuclear program, and that Iran continues to defy the international community through illegal arms shipments to the murderous Assad regime,” Neuer said.

Good grief! The article lists the leadership positions held by Iran in recent years–despite the fact that they are in total violation of the sanctions the U.N. has placed on them. This is the equivalent of punishing a teenager for a speeding ticket by giving them a Porsche.

Agenda 21

In June I wrote an article (rightwinggranny.com) about an Executive Order signed by President Obama establishing the White House Rural Council with 25 executive branch departments. This Executive Order is the beginning of the implementation of Agenda 21.

On Monday night, I was fortunate to attend a seminar on Agenda 21 put on by the Northborough Massachusetts Tea Party. The seminar was eye-opening. It revealed how the ‘green’ movement was going to be used to undermine the concept of private property in America and allow for the redistribution of wealth. t would take too long to detail everything discussed at the seminar, but I would like to share a few quotes. If you would like to learn more, I suggest you google ‘Agenda 21’ or ‘ICLEI.’

Some interesting quotes:

“Current lifestyles and consumption patterns of the affluent middle class–involving high meat intake, use of fossil fuels, appliances, home and work air conditioning, and suburban housing–are not sustainable.”  Maurice Strong, Secretary General of the UN’s 1992 Earth Summit

“Land, because of its unique nature and the crucial role it plays in human settlements, cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principle instrument of the accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice; if unchecked, it may become a major obstacle in the planning and implementation of development schemes.”  This is a quote from the 1976 UN Conference on Human Settlement, held in Vancouver, Canada. Under “Section D. Land,” of the Report of Habitat, which came out of the conference. It is from the preamble and speaks of the private ownership of land.

Please do your own research on how Agenda 21 has impacted your community. When one member of our Tuesday night discussion group went to the website of his community, he found evidence of ICLEI involvement all through the website. The idea that we should protect our environment is a good one–but that protection needs to be done on a local level in a way that respects individual property rights. As you do your research, remember that private property rights are one of the pillars of our representative republic.
