Things We Can Learn From Nayib Bukele

Nayib Bukele is the recently re-elected President of El Salvador. He won re-election by a landslide.

On Tuesday, Red State posted some interesting information about his victory.

The article reports:

As RedState reported, Nayib Bukele has secured a landslide re-election win in El Salvador. That came despite global accusations of authoritarianism and couched U.S. opposition, so much so that Bukele took to sarcastically calling himself the “world’s coolest dictator.”

He’s not a dictator, though, and to prove it, El Salvador welcomed in international election observers to monitor the process as the incumbent secured around 83 percent of the vote, demolishing his closest rival, a left-winger who only got seven percent.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken mostly bit his tongue and put out a congratulatory message, though it was still laced with underhanded jabs at Bukele’s governance.

“The United States values our strong relationship with the people of El Salvador, forged over 160 years and built on shared values, regional ties, and family connections. Events in El Salvador have a direct impact on U.S. interests at home and abroad. Only by working together can we achieve our full potential and overcome the greatest obstacles in our hemisphere and globally,” Blinken said. “Looking ahead, the United States will continue to prioritize good governance, inclusive economic prosperity, fair trial guarantees, and human rights in El Salvador under our Root Causes Strategy.”

Under Bukele’s leadership, El Salvador has gone from one of the most dangerous countries on earth to one of the safest. Using emergency powers granted to him by the nation’s legislative body, over 70,000 people have been arrested, a development that has sent many American liberals into fits of panic. You know what, though? It’s worked.

People can walk their neighborhoods again without fear of being abducted and worse. Even the downtown area where Bukele’s victory speech took place was once ruled by gangs. El Salvador was a failed state, and despite cries of “authoritarian tendencies,” it is no longer one. That’s the reality, whether people like the methods or not.

American liberals are scared to death that Americans might follow the example of El Salvador and elect a President who would actually enforce laws and fight crime. Securing the southern border would be a good start. Of course it is President Trump who fits that description. It would be nice to see some of our major cities again become the tourist attractions they once were.

Good News From Texas

One America News is reporting today that authorities in Texas rescued dozens of people who were being held hostage in a home in Houston in a suspected human smuggling operation.

The article reports:

Police were alerted to the situation Thursday night after receiving reports of a man running in a neighborhood with just his underwear and yelling that he had been kidnapped. The man directed police to the home where he had escaped.

Upon arrival, authorities found 30 people who were nearly naked inside the home. The victims included 29 men and one woman who said they were being held against their will. Police said they arrested at least three alleged suspects.

…Authorities said the victims were originally picked up near the U.S.-Mexico border and came from countries including Mexico, Honduras and El Salvador. The victims were taken to a local school gym, where they waited for immigration officials.

Another reason our southern border needs to be secure–to protect innocent people from being taken advantage of by coyotes.

Under The Radar

On Wednesday The Epoch Times reported the following:

President Donald Trump and Attorney General William Barr announced on Wednesday significant developments in the administration’s efforts to eradicate the notorious MS-13 gang, including its plan to seek the death penalty of an alleged gang member in connection to the slayings of two New York teens.

Trump said his administration’s “campaign to destroy MS-13” had lead to the arrest and indictment of dozens of MS-13 members and its leaders. The Justice Department launched Joint Task Force Vulcan (JTFV) in August 2019 in an effort to disrupt, dismantle, and ultimately destroy the vicious gang, which has been responsible for a wide range of criminal activity across the United States such as human trafficking, drug trafficking, kidnapping, and murder.

Among the arrests include the indictment of Melgar Diaz, who became the first MS-13 member to be charged with terrorism-related offenses, officials say.

“He was responsible for activities in 13 states—20 cliques in the United States.  He was also the person who would greenlight assassinations in the United States.  The orders come from El Salvador—or they request to assassinate people who go down to El Salvador, and he would greenlight the hit,” Barr said during a press conference at the oval office on Wednesday.

Diaz, whose indictment was unsealed on July 14, was charged with offenses including conspiring to provide material support to terrorists, conspiring to kill or maim individuals overseas, and conspiring to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries.

The article concludes:

The attorney general told reporters that more actions against the leadership of MS-13 are expected, saying that the administration had been working very closely with counterparts in El Salvador.

MS-13 was initially formed by Salvadoran immigrants that came to the United States in order to escape the civil war in their home country, according to a study published in the Journal of Gang Research in 2009.

This action is long overdue. Securing our borders is one way to keep members of MS-13 from coming into the country. Arresting the members that are already here is another step toward making America a safer place.

Why We Need To Keep Track Of Illegal Aliens Who Come To America And Commit Crimes

Yesterday The Gateway Pundit posted an article about Carlos Eduardo Arevalo from El Salvador, an illegal alien who brutally murdered a 59-year-old woman, Bambi Larson, in California.

The article reports:

Arevalo has a long criminal record of arrests for violent crimes, but the State of California refused to turn him over to ICE because California is a far-left “Sanctuary State” for criminal illegal aliens.

CBS Local reported:

“Carlos Eduardo Arevalo Carranza stalked this San Jose neighborhood and his victim,” said San Jose Police Chief Eddie Garcia. “He is a self-admitted gang member.”

Garcia then detailed his lengthy criminal record.

“His criminal history convictions consist of in Feb. 2013 he was detained by the Department of Homeland Security at the border near McAllen, Texas, and deported.”

“In 2015, he was arrested for drug paraphernalia. In 2015 he was convicted of burglary in San Jose. In 2016, battery of an officer, resisting arrest and entering a property. In 2016, he was arrested for battery in Los Angeles. In 2017, he was arrested and convicted of false imprisonment in San Jose. On April of 2018, arrested for paraphernalia again. In May, he was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.”

“In August of 2018, he was arrested for prowling. On October 2018, he was arrested for false identification and paraphernalia once again.”

Garcia said Carranza was currently on probation for the possession of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, false imprisonment and burglary.

“Unfortunately, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) placed detainers on this individual six separate times. Two in the Los Angeles area and four in the County of Santa Clara,” he said.

…Mayor Sam Liccardo took aim at the Santa Clara County sanctuary policy in a statement following the police press conference:

“It is long overdue for the County to reconsider its current policy of ignoring ICE hold requests for predatory felons, which undermines the safety of the very immigrant communities we collectively seek to protect,” said Liccardo. “The County’s policy has nothing to do with the City’s decades-long policy of declining to have police engage in federal immigration enforcement, which was implemented to protect public safety. In contrast, the current County policy of ignoring detainer requests for individuals arrested for strike offenses and convicted of multiple felonies undermines public safety, and violates common sense. I hope we can restart this conversation to make progress where we all agree: we can both keep our City safe from violent criminals and protect our law-abiding immigrant community.”

We need a wall, and we need to arrest and deport illegal aliens who break the law–the first time they break the law. If there is a wall, it will be more difficult for them to sneak back into the country.

Another Reason To Know Who Is Coming To America

On January 11, the Judicial Watch Blog posted an article about a recent murder in Massachusetts.

The article reports:

It appears that the recent execution-style murder of a Massachusetts man was committed by two Central American teens that came to the U.S. as Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) under President Obama’s open border free-for-all. Tens of thousands of illegal immigrant minors—mostly from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras—have entered the country through the Mexican border since the influx began in the summer of 2014 and the administration has relocated them nationwide.

News reports indicate that the 17-year-olds charged in the gruesome Massachusetts killing entered the U.S. recently as UAC’s and both have ties to MS-13, according to authorities cited by various outlets. They lived in Everett and one of the teens, Cristian Nunez-Flores, moved to Massachusetts from his native El Salvador a year and a half ago which is when the influx of Central American minors began. His parents remain in El Salvador, according to a local news article. The other gangbanger’s name is Jose Vasquez Ardon and he too is a recent arrival from Central America. Prosecutors say the teens, described in a local news article as “baby-faced boys,” shot a 19-year-old in the head. Both are being held without bail for obvious reasons.

The first batch of UAC’s arrived in 2014.

The article further reports:

Homeland Security sources directly involved with the UAC crisis told JW that street gangs, including MS-13, went on a recruiting frenzy at U.S. shelters housing the illegal alien minors and they used Red Cross phones to communicate. The MS-13 is a feared street gang of mostly Central American illegal immigrants that’s spread throughout the U.S. and is renowned for drug distribution, murder, rape, robbery, home invasions, kidnappings, vandalism and other violent crimes. The Justice Department’s National Gang Intelligence Center (NGIC) says criminal street gangs like the MS-13 are responsible for the majority of violent crimes in the U.S. and are the primary distributors of most illicit drugs.

…The affiliation between gangs and the hordes of illegal immigrant youths that the Obama administration keeps taking in is a story Judicial Watch has been reporting for more than a year. Last fall the Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that the MS-13 is a top tier gang thanks to the influx of illegal alien gang members that have crossed into the state recently. The number of MS-13 members encountered by U.S. Border Patrol in the Rio Grande Valley sector has increased each year, accelerating in 2014 and coinciding with increased illegal immigration from Central America during the same period, the agency disclosed in a report linked to JW’s story. This clearly refers to the UAC crisis that saw over 60,000 illegal immigrants—many with criminal histories—storm into the U.S. in a matter of months.

Securing the border is not an issue that should be political. One of the purposes of government is to provide for the safety of its citizens. The Obama Administration is not doing a very good job of doing that. Hopefully the next administration will take our national security more seriously.

This Is Not Simply A Political Issue–It Is A Public Health Issue

Today’s Daily Caller posted a story about a community that stood up to the Obama Administration and won.

The article reports:

St. Paul’s College, in Lawrenceville, was being eyed as a place to house 500 Unaccompanied Children — minors, mostly from Central America, who were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border.

A contract signed on June 12 would have given St. Paul’s College — which closed last year amid financial difficulties and accreditation issues — $160,000 a month for the next five months.

But the “done deal” unraveled after local residents expressed outrage over the plan.

The original deal was reached between the college and the Health and Human Services Department of the Obama Administration without any input from the sheriff of Lawrenceville or the local residents.

Some residents were concerned that the immigrants from violent countries like Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala would result in more crime in the area. Others felt that the federal money involved could be better spent elsewhere.

There is another aspect of this issue. Americans have generally been vaccinated for measles, chickenpox, and other diseases. Medical care in American (despite ObamaCare) is very good, and many diseases are not common here. Various sources have reported that because of the overwhelming number of immigrants currently coming across the border illegally, there is no real medical screening. This sudden influx of illegal immigrants represents a serious health threat to Americans. We could be creating the kind of situation where the first Arctic explorer sneezed on a native Alaskan and wiped out the whole tribe because they had no antibodies for the common cold. Our government is not protecting us–they are endangering us by the way they are handling border security.

Finding More Ways To Spend Americans Tax Dollars In Other Countries

CNS News reported today that the new Women’s Entrepreneurship Trust Fund, announced by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last month on a visit to Peru, is making an initial contribution of $900,000 to launch pilot programs here in Peru and in El Salvador, What??!!!

The article reports:

The money, according to Clinton, will be used to train rural women in Peru and in El Salvador for jobs as entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Clinton said the U.S. and Peru were working together as partners to support women in rural areas who “are replacing thousands of hectares of illegal coca fields with profitable crops, like chocolate and coffee and palm oil.”

Approximately $500,000 of the money will go to Peru. The program will go far beyond job training, Clinton said.

“With $500,000 in initial funding, we’ll focus on helping Peruvian women advocate for their own needs, mobilize broad national support for issues affecting them, particularly rural women.

Why is the American government doing this? What guarantee do we have that the money will go to the people who actually need it? Could this money be better spent to help American entrepreneurs and small business owners who are struggling under the Obama economy?
