Back To The Census

Michael Barone has posted an article at Townhall.com regarding the 2010 Census.  Michael Barone points out that the President takes an oath to defend the Constitution and according to the Constitution, the Census has to be taken every ten years (Congress passed a law putting it under the Department of Commerce.).

The Census determines how many representatives each state sends to Congress and how many electoral votes every state has in the Presidential election.  We depend on an accurate census to allow our government to function fairly.  The Census also determines the amount of federal aid going to each state.

We do have a Census Bureau.  The ideal plan here is to let the people at the Census Bureau handle the Census.  They have the experience and the knowledge–they know what they are doing.
