Remembering The Real Purpose Of The Military

The purpose of the military is to defend our country and keep us safe. It also is required at times to win wars in other places to insure our national security. It is not a social experiment–it’s sole purpose is military–not social. Keeping that in mind, I applaud the statement made today by President Trump.

“After consultation with my generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. military,” President Trump tweeted.. “Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

Transgender service members have been permitted to serve openly in the military since last year. This was another decision made under the Obama Administration that added confusion and cost to our military expenses. Serving in the United States military is a privilege–not a right. Not everyone is qualified. This decision will make our military more efficient and more cost effective.
