Yesterday's Weekly Standard Blog posted the chart below showing gas prices during the first 26 months of the Obama and Bush administrations. Obviously, there are worldwide forces at work here, but there are also items that our government does control.

Some of the areas in which the government has impacted energy prices are pointed out in the article:
"This is the President whose administration secretly urged him to bypass needed Congressional approval to create as many at 17 national monuments throughout the west, effectively closing off all that land to energy exploration forever.
"This is the President who has illegally tried to illegally enforce an offshore drilling ban."
Actions have consequences. The Obama Administration is not an administration that is willing to develop America's carbon energy resources. Because of that policy, Americans will continue to pay more for their energy needs. The technology of green energy is not sufficiently developed to replace carbon energy in a way that is either revenue neutral or cost effective. Until that happens (or we have a new President), we can expect to pay more for all or our energy needs and to increase our energy dependence on countries that dislike us intensely.
