The New York City Mosque At The World Trade Center Site

CBN News is reporting today on a protest of the building of a mosque near Ground Zero in New York.  More than five thousand people from across the country converged on New York City for the protest.  Many of them had lost family members on September 11, 2001.  The slap in the face is that the planned Mosque will open on September 11, 2011.  One of the comments made during the protest was that the building of a mosque represents victory to a Muslim.  This mosque would be a Muslim celebration of their destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11.

The man behind the mosque, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, has some questionable ties with radical Islam.  In his writings, he advocates Sharia law.  There are also questions as to where the $50 million to construct the mosque is coming from.

The article points out:

"Many of the protestors were immigrants, including Russian Jews, Arab Christians and Indians who love American freedoms and who fear the growing Islamization of America is slowly eroding that liberty.

""We are very happy. America has given us freedom of religion, but we do not want to destroy this country! Islam wants to destroy this country that's the big difference between them and us," said Narain Kataia, an Indian American."

A New York City community board has already approved the construction of this mosque.  The protesters hope that their protest might cause the city board to review that approval.  There are many places in New York City to build a mosque.  Ground Zero does not have to be one of them.
