Don't Get Too Comfortable

There is a post at Power Line stating that we have seriously cripped Al Qaeda's computer communications.  Evidently four of their five communication sites have gone dead since September 10.  This is great news, but don't get too comfortable.  Al Qaeda has been weakened by the war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan, but they are still out there and they still hate us--not for what we have done, but for who we are.  The goal of Al Qaeda is a worldwide caliphate under their chosen Muslin leaders.  We need to remember that.  Thank God we have made their communications more difficult, but I don't believe we have taken the threat of a terrorist attack away.  They will attack as soon as they put the pieces together.  What may be holding them back now may be not knowing what effect an attack would have on the American presidential election.  What effect an attack now would have on the election is anyone's guess.  I believe that sometime between the election and the inauguration we will be attacked.  If that does not happen, I will be convinced that we have made progress in limiting Al Qaeda's ability to attack us in America.  If you remember, their recent attacks have been on American interests around the world, but not in America.  We have the policies of George Bush to thank for the fact that we have remained safe for the last seven years.
